Recalled: “Big Top Flippity Flops” by ALEX Toys

Alex Toys are a really popular toy company with a wide selection of toys (plastic, wooden, activity based, painted, etc). Alex products are immensely popular for their bath time activity sets and tub paints. Last week, Alex Toys received a Health Canada recall notice for “Big Top Flippity Flops” which is a painted circus theme domino set. I went through my normal searches and found that Health Canada issued the recall due to excess levels are barium in the paint and again, I did not find any recall, safety advisory or related media about the recall on the manufacturers website. So again, I emailed the company and called my preferred local toy store, Tag Along Toys to see if they had additional information on the recall.

While I waited for the manufacturer to send me additional information on the recall, I proceeded to spread the word to other retailers who carry the Alex product line. Many of the retailers had not heard of the recall and were going to contact their local representative’s. I emailed a couple online retailers that still had the product available online to advise them of the Health Canada Recall. It should be noted here that the recall notice did not have the batch or lot numbers so one could assume it is the the product that is being recalled.

I received an email back from the manufacturer that they were implementing the recall with Health Canada by notifying the stores that were affected. Their procedure was to notify their affected stores, to remove the items from the shelves immediately and to post the recall notice. However, at the time of this post, the manufacturer continues not to post the recall on their website.

I did recieve an email from the web store that I bought it from and phoned the 1-800 # but have not yet recieved the replacement toy, which was a good 2 months ago. Unfortunately, I no longer have this 1-800 # but am looking to call and follow up, is someone able to pass this on to me? I have emailed their recall address 3x with no response! My daughter loves this toy and is eagerly awaiting its arrival. Thanks

    Hi,

The 1-800# given on the company recall information page is 1-800-666-Alex (2539). Hope this helps. I have been waiting for my replacement since September 2. I’ve emailed the co twice but no reply and I’m getting pretty frustrated too. Hope it comes soon for your daughter’s sake.
