Beautiful Weekend

We had a full day on Saturday. First, we went to the bank to take out some money, and saw that M&M Meats were having a bbq. The one where we were had two cars on display…a red 1960’s Thunderbird and a cool white truck with blue flames. We had bbq for our lunch and then ice cream after.

When we were finished there, we decided to go for a walk in a park next to the Valley Zoo. We walked over the river on a pedestrian bridge and that brought us into Hawralak(sp?) park. By chance, we came upon Emergency Preparedness Week. As we were walking over a grassy field, Tyler saw some helicopters and wow, was he ever excited! He started running toward them, yelling “helicopter! helicopter!” After he had a good look at the helicopters, he saw the firetrucks and called out “firetruck!” so we went there next. We saw those as well as the ambulances, army vehicles, and police vehicles. Bruce and I actually remembered the camera too, so we were able to get some nice pictures. Tyler was too scared to go in the vehicles, but we did get some nice pictures of him next to them. Before we saw the trucks, Tyler had played for a little bit in the playground at the park and had a lot of fun there. As we were leaving, Tyler looked back and saw the helicopters again so started running across the field to see them again. We tried the whole “ok, bye” trick, but he just said “bye” and kept going! I ended up having to bring him back. He cried for a few seconds, but then I asked him to catch his dad, and he was ok again, trying to chase Bruce.

When we left the park, we drove to the Bonnie Doon mall where the fair was set up in the parking lot. Tyler got on four rides and had a great time…although he was already wore out from our previous walk. He absolutely loved the slide there. He also had great fun in the bouncy castle, although he did more running back and forth than jumping, lol. He still had fun, though, and that’s what counts.

I ended up forgetting to put sunscreen on until after we were out for around three or four hours and I got a really bad burn. When we got home, I was really feeling it and I ended up feeling a little sick because of it. I’m going through that annoying itchy-skin phase now on my arms. At least that means the burn is going away, so hopefully that happens soon on my back and shoulders, where the burn was the worst. I have dry skin cream, and that’s been helping quite a bit with my burn. Oh well, we all had a wonderful day and that’s the important thing.

Sometime Friday, we saw the paramedics going to our neighbours place and heard a child screaming. Not to long after, we found out that our neighbour’s 2 year old son fell out their window (they’re on the second storey). He landed on a grassy hill and rolled into the parking lot. Thankfully he wasn’t seriously harmed - just some bumps and bruises.

Yesterday, Bruce made me breakfast in bed. I knew he was downstairs making it, and just after he started I was busting to use the bathroom, but I figured he wouldn’t be long so I tried holding it. I didn’t know though, that he was making potatoe pancakes so he had a long ways to go, and I ended up having to go after about 1h of waiting, lol. I didn’t want him to know that I was awake and knew that he was making me breakfast, but I couldn’t wait any longer. We laughed about that when he did bring my breakfast up.

After getting up and on the go, we brought Tyler to a nearby playground. From there, we went to the store and picked up a few things. We had Jiggs Dinner for supper and decided to pick up a pie for dessert. We had a wonderful, relaxing day to end the weekend and we all really enjoyed ourselves.
