Once again this year Gord, Myles and I participated in Run for the Cure. As I mentioned in one of my previous blogs - we participate in support of my co worker, who is also a good friend. She was diagnosed in late 2006. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing it was to see her cross that finish line this year as a survivor. Last year she did the 1K as she had just finished chemo and was about to start radiation. This year - she walked the WHOLE thing.
I cannot even put into words how incredible it is to watch the crowds of people all out - for one morning - for one cause. I am so hopeful that one day there will be a cure.
One other moment that sticks out in my mind is when my co worker found that wall with photo’s from last year. There she was on this wall, with very little hair - this year - such a difference. The tears flowed as her son, her daughter in law, my co worker and I discussed how far she has come and how different things are.
I am also so very proud of Momof4boys son - at 9 years old he raised $190 AND ran the whole 5K - way to go *J* - you are an inspiration and I am so proud to have had you as part of our team.
To team Thing-A-Ma-Boobs - thank you - for a great day, and all your hard work in getting donations - I hope you are all as proud of yourselves as I am of you!
What a day, what a moment, what a memory!
