One of the quirks the Myles exhibits - which is also symptomatic of Aspergers is that fact that he freaks out and will flat out refuse to put on new coats, hats, shoes, mitts etc. It usually turns into coaxing and bribing to get him into these new articles of clothing.
Last summer while I was in the states I bought Myles a pair of Sketcher Crocs thinking it was the perfect solution for his stinky summer sandle feet!! LOL! When I got home - I showed them to him he ran in the other direction quicker then I could fully get them out of the box. So i tucked them away for Christmas hoping for a different result months later.
Unfortunately I was wrong - he still hated them at Christmas. This weekend, I figured I would take one last stab at it before I put them up for sale on Kijiji. All I said to him, was here are some special new shoes - they look just like Mommy’s. He put them on and was ready to head out the door. I couldn’t believe it - no fight’s, no fit’s - nice and easy. He wore them all day and WANTED to wear them again the next.
Although Im doing my best not to get my hopes up - I can’t help but think (hope) that this might be just a small bit of progress.
