I remember opening my eyes about 9:45 this morning and thinking - this can’t be right. Did Myles sleep in??? As I rolled over - there he was looking in me in the fact, in the spot that Gord usually sleeps in. *Good Morning Mommy* he said *It’s time to get up*…LOL!
How great of Gord - he got up with Myles before 7am and managed to keep Myles away from our room until 9:30 so I could sleep in. Once Gord realized I was up for good - Myles came barreling in the bedroom with two cards. One from Myles (who was so proud that he wrote *Love Myles* with some assistance of course) and one from Gord. Gord also brought in a huge rose plant, with the thinking we would pick up more flowers to plant in the bed beside the house. He also, held in his hand - a cup of nice warm coffee - what a way to wake up, this was obviously the start to a great day.
Gord took us to breakfast at the Fox and Fiddle, and although they have awesome pub food, breakfast was a bit of bust - however, it was the thought that counted. After breakfast, we picked up a couple of bouquets of flowers to take out the cemetery and leave for both my grandmother’s who passed last year. Myles actually placed the flowers and squeaked out a *Happy Mother’s Day* at each site, it was quite touching really.
Gord took Myles to the car and I went back to Grandma and Grandpa Naismith’s site. It was so bizarre to feel the ground fresh under my feet, with no grass growing yet but not see a date of passing for my grandfather (he passed just before this past Xmas). It almost made it as though it was real. Anyway I spoke to them for a few mins while choking back tears - I still miss them very much.

We then headed over to Waterloo park in the KW area. We knew our time was limited as the clouds were grey and it was getting chilly. Myles was pretty oblivious though having a ball at the playground. As much as I tried to urge him to check out all the animals, he kept telling me - he was too busy playing!! LOL!. As he was starting to get into the swing, the rain started - so we got an ice cream cone and hid under a roof overhang in hopes the rain would subside. We finally realized this wouldn’t happen so we ran to the car and headed out for some dinner. We went to Zeke’s in kitchener and had a very yummy dinner. On the way home I called my mom in the car to pass along our wishes to her. She lives not too far from where the hurricane’s touched down in the Oklahoma/Missouri area so I was relieved to hear they were untouched and safe. Myles showed off some of the new words he had learnt to spell and then wished Grandma a happy Mother’s day. I could hear the happiness in my mom’s voice when we called and was happy that although we are far apart the phone call made her day!
As I sit her tonight and reflect on my day - I realize it couldn’t have been more perfect. But not because of everything we did, but because of everything it meant. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - I am so blessed to have the best fiancee and such a super special lil boy. Today was about love and family for me. It’s not about the meals, or the gifts - it’s about precious time and moments to never be forgotten!
Happy Mother’s Day to everyone - I hope you have a day filled with love and memories!
