I choose one pot meals this week to make things a little speedier.  I tried a few on the weekend and they turned out great (the sun dried tomato chicken  and the southwestern soup).  I can’t wait to try the others…they sound yummy too!

I am so overwhelmed with recipes to make this year, I don’t know which ones to make.  I had a few recipes picked out but then I picked up the taste of home christmas cookies and candies book and I want to make them ALL.  Everything looks so good, my mind is racing…eeek!!!!  The best part is the recipes are all on pull out cards with photos.  I also picked up a christmas family traditions box that holds recipes, 2 music cd’s and holiday party themes.  I’m going to store all the taste of home recipe cards in the box so I will have everything in one spot.  So if you happen to see this book on the magazine stand and you love to bake, for $5.99 it’s a must have in my books.

It’s that time once again to pull out all the Christmas decor.  I picked up a few more this morning at a open house craft sale at my sitters house.  She and a friend have this sale every year and it’s one of the things I look forward to.  I picked up some personalized snowman ornaments for the tree to go with the other homemade ornaments I picked up last year.  I also picked up a mini candle holder that says “believe” on the front.  The thing I like most about her crafts is that they are so simple and so cute.  I try to pick up decorations that I can keep up all year long.  It’s a shame to only have them displayed one month of the year.christmas ornaments ~ i bought the mittens, hearts and stars last year

rustic candle holders..holds tealights. made from blocks of wood.

mantle holder…i absolutley love this…must have one!!

I purchased a gps system a few weeks ago and we are still trying to figure it out.  It’s a magellan explorist 500.  Geocaching is a fairly simple concept.  It’s getting the unit programmed and files uploaded that is the tricky part.  I have 8-9 geocaches on the unit.  I figured out how to upload them to the system and hubby knows how to go in and find them.  Do you have to upload maps?  Silly question, I know.  I’m sure once we get the hang of it, it will be great!  I just wish we had gotten out before all this snow arrived.  Oh well, we can always pick up some snow shoes and a small shovel.  Hubby and I spend the day alone while the kids were in school and gabby is at the sitters.  We took the dog up to the woods.  It was gorgeous!  I would love to own a cabin in the woods.   Perhaps someday.  For now, I’ll work on trying to figure out this gps unit.

Today we finally got out to enjoy the snow.  It was chilly, but we had hot chocolate waiting for us inside.  Gabby wasn’t too fond of her new snowsuit at first.  She wouldn’t even put it on.  But once she figured out she was going outside in the snow, she cooperated.  We have LOTS of snow outside.  It’s unusual to have so much so soon, but I don’t mind.  Unlike many others, I actually LIKE the snow. Braeden opted to stay inside of course, but he did have some hot chocolate with us.

We’ve had back to back blizzards in the last 2 days.  Currently the weather is pretty nasty.  The plow just barely got down our street and me…..I’m trying to get into work.  Crazy, I know!  Hubby is out shoveling the driveway…probably cursing me under his breath (sorry hon!).  I’m not nervous driving in the snow at all.  Growing up in PEI, you get use to this sort of weather.  I’ll take my time and be very careful.  I actually love a good storm.  Grace has been dying to go outside and play, but she won’t be allowed out for a bit.  Not until it calms down.  Of course I couldn’t make a post without pics.

Well….we have it. LOTS of it!  The kids actually have a 1hr delay for school this morning.  Hubby got up early and shoveled the driveway, but he forgot to put the BBQ in the shed so it’s out on our deck covered in snow.  My drive home from work last night was brutal.  Lots of white outs and drifting.  Looks like we are in for a rough winter.  Bring it on!

Some of you may have read on the CPO board that gabby had to get a new hair cut recently.  Grace was at a birthday party over the weekend and got some silly putty in her loot bag.  After this weekend, I will NEVER buy silly putty….EVER!  I didn’t even know Grace had it.  I heard Gabby screaming and asked what was going on.  Grace said she “threw” the putty at her and it got stuck in her hair.  What a mess!  I could have put vegetable oil in her hair to try and get it out, but it was such a mess.  I just grabbed a pair of scissors and voila…problem fixed.  I don’t think Gabby was too impressed.  The whole time I was cutting she kept saying “hair, hair”.  I do think she likes her new “do” now that she’s gotten use to it and she will always be pretty cute in my eyes!

Each night I’ll ask Grace what she wants for supper and her reply is always the same…”a white potato with butter.”  She would have one for breakfast, lunch and supper if I let her.  Braeden is the same…very fussy and not interested in trying anything new.  The two of them live off potatoes, salad and pizza.

Gabby on the other hand…totally different.  She will eat anything and everything regardless of how it looks.  Some of her favorites include quiche, pasta, rice, any meats, hummus and even thai food.   She’s a great little eater.  I wish her brother and sister weren’t as fussy.

This week, I took meals from my cookbooks.  I’ve noticed them gathering dust and I think they have been feeling a little neglected.

:)

1/2 cup miracle whip

1 cup milk

4 eggs

1/4 tsp each nutmet, salt and pepper

then I add the ingredients I have on hand ie)ham, cheese, onion, olives etc)
