Where has the time gone!

August 12th, 2008 by zann71

Summer is just zooming by! I can’t believe we are already in the middle of August. We have had so much rain I can’t believe summer is almost over. I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and it was so busy with kids getting all their school supplies. Luke of course still has a few years before school but I can’t wait to be buying him new stuff! I always loved getting new school supplies. In the mean time summer is still here so we will take advantage. Tomorrow we are off to go whale watching…after a quick visit with my dear friend Tracey (angeloftheisland). This will probably be the last trip we take before school starts.

Next Saturday my son’s father is coming to visit. I call him father and not dad because anyone can be a father…it takes someone special to be a dad. Luke hasn’t seen his father since July 13th 2006. Luke was born July 8th 2005. So you do that math…think Luke will have any clue who this person is? I am so worried about it. I haven’t slept well since I found out he was coming. I have arranged though so Luke and I will never be alone with him. I’ve been asking Luke too if he wants to see his father and go do things with him and he says no I want to stay with Mommy…I know this is going to piss off my ex and he’s going to think I trained Luke to say that. I just have to take it one day at a time and hope for the best. I will let you all know how it goes…if anyone actually reads this..lol.

Until next time. :)

Bad me!

July 30th, 2008 by zann71

Ok, so I’m a terrible blogger. I know it’s been a few months since my last blog. I really need to get with it! So I’m still in the potty training mode. Luke gets it. Knows what he has to do. Just won’t do it! I try and try. It’s so frustrating! He will go if I put him on the potty, but he won’t go on his own. I have learned the signs though. Even if I ask if he needs to potty, he will ALWAYS say no then 2 minutes later there is a puddle on the floor. I only put a diaper when we go out or at night. So there have been quite a few messes in the house. I guess the good thing is as soon as he’s fully trained I get a new couch! Good thing I have hardwood floors!

Other than the potty training thing, things have been not too bad. The summer is going by so quickly! We did get to go to Toronto and Niagara for a few days. Luke had alot of fun. Ok…so did I. I also got to meet Titia aka kikicanadian. That was great. I wish we could have had more time together. Next time! I love meeting CPOers in real life. So much fun!

We are trying to squeeze in another quick vacation. This time to Tadoussac to go whale watching. Hopefully that will work out. Luke’s father is wanting to come for a visit and of course he picks those dates. Luke hasn’t seen his father in over 2 years, so I don’t know how that will go. My ex-in laws are arriving this Friday. Again we haven’t seen them in over 2 years. I’m a little nervous but more comfortable with them coming than I am with my ex-husband coming here. None of them know about the relationship I’m in…yet. Hopefully it won’t make waves. Time will tell.

S o that’s pretty much what’s going on here. I will try to update regularly. Really I will! :)

Potty training!

April 17th, 2008 by zann71

So my saga continues! I have been trying to get Luke potty trained. He’s got such a hard head! (must come from his father’s side :)) I know he understands but just refuses to go! I have tried letting him run around naked to just undies. Nothing is getting thru to him. I have tried bribes from Hot Wheels to junk food to even a pet! albeit a goldfish…but it’s still a pet right? :) I ask him a hundred times a day if he has to go potty and his response is always “No Way”. Every once in while I just plop him on the potty anyway and we sit and wait and wait…up to 40 minutes sometimes. Sometimes he will go sometimes nothing happens. I’m just losing patience! I know for certain though as soon as I put a diaper or undies on him, he will go.

Luke’s pediatrician told me that it’s normal for boys go up to 3+ years before being totally potty trained. Like he said unfortunately there is always someone that has their child potty trained at a much earlier age making us feel that there must be something wrong with our child. I already knew Luke is very determined. He’s very set in his ways. I still can’t get him to eat anything else but cheese, fruit, vegetables, yogurt and cereal. What kind of diet is that?

Typing this out is making my frustrations stronger, but at the same time making me feel better getting it all out! So my way is not working right now. Liz has given me some other suggestions. Any other suggestions are so welcome!

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather!

Welcome!

Ok, so I finally took the plunge.  I’m ready to give blogging a try. I don’t know if I’ll have much to say or if I can write as nice as some of you, but here it goes!  Tracey…I’m counting on you to be my editor. ;)  There seems to be alot to learn about this.  I hope I can figure it out.

So I’ll start off with a little about me.  I’m not really sure what kind of info is going to show up.  I’m assuming you got here by clicking on the link in my siggy.  Therefore you know I’m lukes_mom.  I’m 36 years old, soon to be 37.  I’m a divorced single mom of one FANTASTIC 2 year old.   I have been in a relationship since August 2007.  Hmmm this is harder than I thought.  I work from  home as a travel agent.  Although it’s been really quiet lately and I’m considering just dropping it all.  It’s just too much work for the pay and it takes away time I can spend with Luke.   I did own my own agency for a while but I sold it after my ex left so I could be home with my son full time.  It was a huge decision, but I know it was the right one at the time. Now that Luke is getting older though I’m ready for him to go to a play group a few times a week.  Right now I’m thinking I will keep him home with me for the summer since there is so much we can do during the summer, but in the fall he will go part-time.  It will also give me a chance to get a part-time job just so I can get out of the house some!  I am starting to go stir-crazy.  It was a long winter!

My life is pretty routine.  No big surprises.  My ex doesn’t live in this country.  It was his choice to leave.  He hasn’t seen my son since July 2006.  I do put Luke on the webcam 1 or 2 times a week.  It was much easier to do it before because Luke wasn’t as active as he is now.  I can’t get Luke to sit still!  I’m thinking that my ex will have to be happy with just talking to him on the phone soon because it’s just too much to hold the laptop in one hand and the webcam in another while running around the house chasing Luke!  ..I bet you all have an image in your minds now…lol.

My big thing right now is the playoffs!  This whole city has gone Montreal Canadiens crazy.  Flags all over the city.  I have a flag on my car too. :)  If Montreal wasn’t in the playoffs I probably wouldn’t be watching.

Anyway, so this is going to be my first entry…If I can figure out how to post it. :)
