Book Giveaway!
I’d like to congratulate our dedicated Child & Family Therapist, Sara Dimmerman on the release of her first book, Am I a Normal Parent?, the definitive guide to figuring out what’s normal for parents in the 21st century.
The courier delivered four copies of Am I a Normal Parent to my door yesterday - hot off the press! I’ll send a copy out to the first four bloggers who leave a comment to this post - AFTER you take Sara’s quiz: Am I a Normal Parent? In your comment, tell us a little bit about how you made out taking the quiz. Are you a normal parent?
Don’t forget to include your first name and email address in the comment box below. I’ll contact the first 4 posters via email to get mailing address etc.

Wow, some really thought-provoking questions there.
The difference between LOVING your child(ren) and LIKING them … luckily both of my boys seem to be developing into wonder, caring human beings (although some days I sure question the “human beings” bit!!) and even though they are radically different, I really do like them both (most of the time).
“Be there in a minute” (or ten?) - that’s another hard one - we are pulled in so many different directions at once and we’re trying so hard to multi-task, that getting side-tracked or being “rushed off your feet” is a common ailment. No wonder when I tell them that they only have a few minutes left of video game time they take 1/2 hour or more … they’ve learned to “stretch” time from me … arrgh!!
I’ve often thought that Normal is nothing more than a town in Illinois … and this seems to underline that. I’ll watch for your book in the local stores/library - I think it will make a very interesting read!!

Wow, after the first question I felt good that this wouldn’t be that bad but one after another I started to wonder but the comments that came after each question really made me realize that I may be normal after all.
I know that alot of people have alot of the same issues but you always wonder just how alone you are.
Be there in a minuite is my worst complaint for both me and D’Arcy, with 4 kids and too any extracurriclar events life is getting harder and harder to be there in a minuite. The scariest part is that this is going to get worse as the little ones get bigger

Hello! That was an interesting quiz. I feel under being a normal parent. Two things that stuck out in my mind were
Do you feel out of all the households in your neighborhood your’s should win “household from hell” (or something along those lines)
-I will be honest. I answered yes. There is a lot of times when all three kids are screaming, and BF and I are ready to just join right in and scream ourselves that I’m thinking “OMG thankfully the neighbors aren’t seeing this. They’re going to think we’re all nuts”
Do you ever feel the need to run away? (Even if just for one night?) BF and I discussed this…and honestly does even for one week sound more appropriate some days? I mean we love our kids to death. But currently three teething, additude boys…running away sounds nice. What are we going to do come the teenage years?
It was a very good ‘eye opener’ quiz that made me realize that what I am doing/thinking is not weird…I am normal!! (At least according to the quiz)LOL
