Éva Simone at Life in my coconut shell!

Éva Simone

I know I am a little late posting my daughters birth story, but she is sure keeping me busy.

After a few days of minor irregular contractions, on May 2nd 2008 Kevin and I went to the hospital for an NST.  At this time I was 39 weeks pregnant.  After being plugged in for a half hour, the doc came in and did an internal.  I was 4 cm dialated and he told me “see you later tonight!”.  Kev drove me home and went of to work. Thankfully my dad was around to keep me company.  At 11 am my contractions started, they weren’t too bad and were 7 min apart.  I called Kev and told him to eat lunch and than make his way home. 3 hours later he shows up (thankfully my water didn’t break, you’ll undertstand why in a minute).  We make our way to the hospital and we get hooked up again.  The contractions at this point are 2 minutes apart and are stronger, but nothing I couldn’t handle.  The doc came in at 4:35pm checked me, I was 5 cm dilated and broke my water…”what not drugs first…this is gonna suck!” Kev went to the car to get the bag and CD player while I went to the washroom and got a gown on.  While I was doing this the contractions got REALLY BAD.  On a scale of 1 to10 they were 15.  When Kev got back I blew through a few more contractions before moving to the birthing room.  By the time I got to the room, I was screaming for the epidural.  A few more contractions and I felt the weirdest pressure ever.  I SCREAMED….the doc came in and without even checking could tell that I was ready to push.  A few more pushes and my beautiful baby girl was born at 5:36pm, one hour after they broke my water.
