I miss summer

There used to be a time when finding something Green or Organic was near impossible…. When dd1 was a baby I had to make my own diapers, order off a primative online world, and really scour every organic market.. Which wasn’t hard as there was only two and they were and hour drive away in opposite directions… So i learned to make for myself, and stretch what i had ’cause going to the store was one very big carbon footstep…

but now…

it’s trendy… which isn’t a bad thing…. but…..

Wally World sells “green” products.. i can buy “organic” food at the big chain grocery…. Clorox (the bleach company) sells “enviromentally friendly” cleaning fluids…. Shneiders (A meat company) makes vegetarian “meatless” nuggets..  Even the Burger King sells a Veggie burger…

But… is it Organic? Is it green? Is it really “meatless”?

Probably not… Like my Organic Fair traded tea that comes in packaging that i cannot recycle or compost…. or the “green” dish soap in its pretty plastic bottle with all of its colours that says 99% natural,  making me wonder what in that 1%…. How Green can a SuperChain like WallyWorld be if everything inside has to travel by truck, then boat then train, then truck again just to be thrown in the dumpster 30 days later…

But thank heavens it’s trendy… Something i hope never goes out of style… 10 years ago i would have thought this day would never arrive… but now that its here i think my old green was greener….

We still have a long way to go…

And GRRRRR to the parents of the three teen boys I was driving behind. I cannot belive you would not only alow your children to contribute to the already bad enough air quality, by giving them a large fuel d-effiecient car so that they could drive around in circles all day (and most of the night) BUT….I cannot forgive you for not teaching them enough not to litter. Shame on you for not being a good role model and teaching your child that the Earth is Sacred, and not ours for the taking (as some like to believe)…Shame on You! Although I should Thank-you for allowing me to teach my child that your childrens behaviour was unacceptable, and that i would be embarrassed if my child had done the same.

Tier watching Nayeli

Tier Watching Nayeli as she sleeps…Always.

I can breathe again…

I broke down, and stepped into the future…

I reconnected my internet.

Finally.

And i caved in and got cable…fancy digital cable.. it’s been almost 10 years since i had more then one clear channel…let alone several hundred… My head hurts… And to think i thought i would never have to watch another commercial again… Ha! everytime i change the channel a commercial is on…grrr

at least i can change a channel.

I liked living in the past…washing my diapers, planting my garden, making my baby food, laughing at big sister trying to make little sister laugh, playing with the puppy, watching my garden grow, hanging my diapers in the sun… loving my life.

But I’m back, and so is winter…So we bowed to DD’s demands and hooked ourselves back up to the rest of the world… Yay for us!

As a pre-New Years pact with myself i promise to write more, as the writer in me is dying to be heard.. dying being the operative word.

I’m still here… just not my connection. In fact i’m borrowing this connection just so i can give a big wave to let ou know i’m still here. I’m going through cpo withdrawl. But things are looking up… I’ll soon be connected. back to the future. This living in the past isn’t working for me so well.

Nayeli - 2m

No worries….I’ve already slapped the back of my hand…. I’ve been a bad blogger…*hangs head in shame….

but i’ve been busy…It’s summer, and soo nice outside, and my garden needs tended. I’ve planted corn, cucumber, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, onion, beans, beets, pumpkins & squash, sunflowers, strawberries, & so much more…And yes when the time comes i promise to share *Toothy grin

An Update:

Nayeli is growing like a weed… she’s doubled her birth weight (Yay!)  and almost caught up to her 2m older cousin… And she has a new cousin(s).. All four girls have been born… Amelia~ March 5, Nayeli ~May 5, Brooke~ May 11, & Sara~ June 1… I can’t wait till christmas…

I went back to court…And this time my Lawyer did his (it’s gonna cost you) job… And we found out that in order to claim undue hardship he MUST a) have a standard of living lower then I do (my 12 a year to his 53 doesn’t work) and b)have a good reason for his wife not to work (he has two healthy children… and a job that subsidizes daycare) The judge also had something to say about his deadbeatness, and his lousy excuses…which he’ll get to read when he gets a copy of the transcripts…*Evil Grin (or Satisfied Smirk even)

So this means he’s stuck paying $544 a month instead of the $200 he wanted…I’ll have to take a restraining order out against his wife the next time they come home…I’m willing to pay that price.

Bonus ~ MEP finally caught up to this Invisable Man (His cape must need repaired)…So i got a $3000 cheque from the NS govt, cheques of $544 for a year, and a bonus bonus of a monthly $80 + from the Canadian Forces…(his wages have been garnished *again EG/SS) I’m richer then i thought… I guess the scotiabank was right… too bad I’m forced by this D*ckHe*d to give most of it to my lawyer…*Deep breath…repeat Karma mantra

Sidenote ~ I NIP with no shame… and refuse to give my LO a plastic replacement… So when it came time to go to court i didn’t even think about pumping so she could be watched by someone else…. I thought the judges eyes were going to fall out of her head when she noticed i was nursing…thankfully she didn’t say anything…*giggle

Off to weed my garden… I wish i had more summer…or time to post more.

My MIL kidnapped me yesterday… Not just me, thankfully, but all of us…The new grandbabies, and their Mamas… Sil#1 with her 3m old, Me & my 3w old, and Sil#2 with her 2w old…All girls (and we didn’t plan it… I do however suspect Nanny Annie was the one with the plan)

So the three Mamas strapped our LOs into Nanny Annie’s suburban, the only vehicle big enough for three mamas & three carseats.. and we had room to spare! With Nan @ the wheel, we were off to find a resturant with enough room for all of us… Our first stop was the Pepto-Bismal Bistro (real name withheld) who had no room for this brood… Although i suspect it had more to do with the owner Mr. Fabulous not wanting three babes ruining his Atmosphere (It is where the Mucky-mucks eat)… Not a problem… we are lucky to have more eaterys then people in this small town, our money is better spent elsewhere.

I suggested we try “The New Place” as not only would they have room for all of us, but i was sure they’d love to have our business (having been open for only a week)

It must have been quite the sight the 7 of us piling out of the Suburban… Nanny Annie did the check…”Everyone have their babies? diaper bags? sanity?” check, check, and well i misplaced the last years ago.

Lunch was better then Fabulous… For a small town eatery i was impressed… very big city menu… And our babes loved it too.

After lunch we stopped by the local baby store. The LO’s had finally drifted off so MIL offered to stay with them, while we went in… They were fed, and clean, so we thought it would be safe…

As hard as it was not to buy everything, i did manage to score some more cloth diapers  and two really cute hats….  AIO cloth diapers are near impossible to find in my area, let alone in the small town i live in…I thought for sure i was the only one who used them…The CD i found still had the original price tag on them. I can’t even begin to say how excited i was to find them!

We maybe spent all of 10 minutes in the store, all of us beaming with our new found treasures for our newborn treasures… When we got outside I looked up to where the ‘burben was parked, I turned to SILs who hadn’t noticed yet.. MIL had stolen our babies!!  We had a good laugh while waiting for her to come back. We knew she’d come back…its one of the advantages to breastfeeding…

It was a wonderful afternoon, all in all… our first outing with the three babes..

Nayeli

I read a card at my baby shower that said ” welcome to the world, little one, we’ve all been waiting patiently for you to arrive” And i have… been waiting patiently*.

Nayeli Maia arrived May 5, @ 1:03pm… 6pounds 2 ounces, and 19 inches long. I can’t believe how tiny she is! Nor can i believe how much you can forget in 10yrs.

My birth story… Or Extraction…

Day 1….I didn’t have labour… i wasn’t allowed.. instead i had fake labour, where they stuck me in a labour room while i waited for the Dr.’s to enjoy their cup of coffee (which i didn’t mind, as it was monday, and i wouldn’t want to have a hungover dr about to slice me open)  SO and i faked labour from 9 to 12:30, and when SO finally decided to go get himself a cup of coffee, the Dr figured she was ready.

I walked to the OR, where they made me sit while they gave me a spinal (and a rash thanks to the sticky plastic they put on your back)… As soon as the spinal was in they made me lie down, where they then proceeded to poke me with pins to see what i could feel… SO tried to be supportive, but they kept pushing him out of the way… at one point telling him to sit down in the corner while they finished getting me ready…

Alien Autopsy… isn’t something you should watch right before surgery…. They put the blue curtain up and made SO sit beside my head. He kept trying to stand to see his LO meet the world, but they wouldn’t let this Son of a Farmer watch (he grew up helping his father do similar things to cattle)  I tried to watch the reflection in the ceiling, but it was fuzzy.

And then it was time… They told us they were going to pull the LO out…SO was allowed to watch this part…I wasn’t. Instead i stayed behind the blue screen…alone… SO was torn, he wanted to support me, but i felt he should be with the LO.. From behind the blue screen I heard her cry for the first time… From behind the blue screen I heard the nurses gush at how cute she was… From behind the blue screen i ached to hold her, to see her, to know she was ok….I waited for them to remember me….

And then they stitched me up.  SO brought over our LO for me to meet, and she was everything i had heard… beautiful…

We spent another 3 hours waiting for a) my feet to move, b)the neferologist (kidney dr.) to see me, and c) or a private room to open up (which we paid for out of pocket)

When we were finally allowed to move to our room, we were met by the Nanas, one Grampy, and two very eager older sisters…Everyone had waited so patiently for their newest family member to arrive.

*excuse my spelling please, as i only have one arm and half a brain.

…My blood pressure is so high!

My week started out on thursday, with court not going so well… Who knew the judge could represent the other party?!? Even my lawyer seemed a little shaken by the judges actions… So now i have to wait till july to try again… At least i didn’t go into labour…although…(i’m getting to that)

My weekend was OK… I think my nesting caused some friction with SO’s nesting, and we were grumpy with each other all weekend… Eventually we got over it, like we always do (two aries in one house means every once in a while, we need to butt heads… usually around the time of the full moon)

And then Sunday happened… The only uncle I liked passed away. A heart attack after church, which could have been prevented if it weren’t for the lousy health care system.  We hadn’t spoken since my grandfather’s funeral 3 yrs ago. I regret that now. I’m not able to say my goodbyes at his funeral, Dr.’s orders, it’s too far away, and i’m too pregnant to go.  Although I’m pretty sure my uncle came to visit sunday,  to tell me he’ll be watching over us, and that everything is forgiven. At one point I caught a whiff of his cologne,  and it felt as if he was sitting next to me.

Monday… I tried to lower my blood pressure by getting my pictures done before the birth (or extraction depending on how you look at it)

Tuesday… I had a DR’s appointment… I took deep breathes when they weighed me, as i’ve gained 85pds during this pregnancy (as much as DD weighs now, SO reminded me) The hospital messed up on my tests, so I have to repeat them (it’s not easy doing a 24 hr urine collection, with a huge belly) And when my Dr. checked my blood pressure she didn’t tell me what it was (so as not to increase it even more) She then left the room, and came back with a new c/s date. I’m due to have this LO on Monday, and have to go back to the dr. tomorrow (with my pee jug) I am soooo not ready to have this baby yet. I was enjoying my last pregnancy even with all of it’s aches & pains… We still have yet to pick out a name! it’ll be a busy weekend!

Me Guard dog Get’em Tier!!

So I was having an alright morning.. minus the lack of sleep… So forgive me if I’m grumpy… Then the phone rang…

I always hesitate to answer calls I don’t know… I shouldn’t have picked up this one… It was the Sherriff… He had something for me… Ick!

Apparently my Ex… The invisibale man.. has decided to take off his cape (maybe to wash it)

The Background…

Recently I took him to court for more money…Not because I’m greedy, but because I feel that if he’s not going to visit he should at least pay a higher amount…Call it punishment…He was 26 when he knocked up a 17 yr old… Then left her to raise the child alone… I’ve always told him I would ask for nothing, if he visited, or at least helped out…

The Foreground…

He’s claiming Undue hardship.. The stupid F*’er now has 3 other children to support… Not my problem.. he should have learned his lesson with the first…

Apparently his reason for claiming hardship is that his current wife does not work, and he cannot afford to pay for her, and their two children…Again NOT my problem… I work @ a sh*tty little bar, for min. wage, and $2 tips so that I can feed my DD.  His wife can do the same.

Apparently his reason for not seeing his DD is because it costs too much… NOT my problem… He could call collect on her BD, or at x-mas… I WOULD except the charges.  He has been home to visit (he lives in BC - although I just found that out) and when he’s home, he makes no effort to get out of his car when we walk by… I don’t understand how much it costs to open a frigg’n door… (Sorry, us bluenoser get a thicker accent when we’re p*ssed)

Apparently he’s got another child who he has to pay support to… Maybe he should have gotten fixed when the child support started to add up…

Apparently he just bought himself a new car… I walk.. I wish i could afford a car.

GRRRRR… He makes me soooo mad!!! And you know i probably could deal with all of this, if it wasn’t for his wife. When she comes home to visit (he can afford to send her) She brags about all of *his* money she’s spending… @ my bar…while I’m working…Get an F’N job!  Nor would I be so mad if he wasn’t in arrears… I’m sure the court won’t be happy to hear that…. I can’t wait to see him there… Maybe I’ll bake him cookies again… With Breastmilk like i did last time… He thought they were good cookies ;)

Tier

Waiting for the Bus

Ok… So she’s not a puppy anymore…In fact i’ve seen a few grey hairs on her chin …(which she doesn’t like being teased about) …But She’ll always be my Furbaby.

Three years ago she was sent my way by a Higher Power… A friend called upset that this beautiful Dober/Shepherd mix was slated to be executed. My friend told me the dog was bad, it’s owners could not put up with it anymore… Too much trouble they said. Without seeing her, nor discussing it with SO (It was a life or death situation) I immediatly said yes, I’d take her.  Three years ago I lived in a small two bedroom apartment, and my landlord said no pets…but the lady upstairs had a cat…and i could always find a new home.  (i’ve sinced moved to the Country, where she has lots of room to play)

When I met Tier, I knew from the get-go she wasn’t a bad dog… She did however have Bad owners.  I thought it was cute that her tail didn’t stop wagging, and that after getting to know SO and I, she ran down the hall to my DD’s room and laid down on the bed next to her. She didn’t move for the rest of the night… She had found her home…and her little girl.

When I met Tier, her name was really Tea-bag… But i found she responded to “T -Here”…. Which turned into Tier (which i’m told in German means Animal).. She likes the name, and won’t look at you when you say Tea-bag.

When I met Tier, I could see her ribs… When I fed her I could tell she hadn’t been fed in awhile… She’s still a little protective over her food…But i understand… I was once hungry myself… I once had bad “owners” too.

When I met Tier, I could tell she was an “indoor” dog… I had to teach her to use the washroom outside…Well actually SO did that..(it’s a little easier for a man)… But i taught her that I would respond when she asked to go out… In the early days she had an accident…my fault, not hers… And she was so upset she brought me the paper towel…I never taught her that.

When I took Tier for her first walk, I could tell she had never experienced it before… (She was a year old when she found us) We took her to SO’s parents farm, and let her run… She didn’t take off (we were told she would), but instead ran circles around us… With the biggest smile, and tongue hitting the ground… At one point she even jumped up and licked SO’s nose… I think she was saying Thank-you.

Three years later, we have the best Puppy in the world… She greets us with our favorite toy.. (ie. I play with a ball with her, while SO gave her a slipper, and she remembers who likes to play with what)… She keeps an eye on her Little Girl, and even “Tells” on her when she’s being bad…  She never runs away, nor bites, nor growls (’cept when it’s warrented)…. We got her a Kitty, and she’s very good at taking care of him… She’s definatly one of the family…Extended family included… I can’t believe anyone would dream of “putting her down”.   I’m glad I rescued her

I once had a customer refer to his dog as a “spirit dog”… I’m sure my puppy is one of those…
