Early mornings
This is my first blog and I think it is fitting to introduce myself.
I am a full-time mom of 3, two boys(7 and 4) and almost 2(going 21) girl. I am also employed full-time and will be returning to school in September 2008(like I don’t have enough on my plate) .
Early this morning (@ about 4am), we were awaken by the loud screeching… er.. beeping of the CO/Gas detector. After about an hour of dilly-dallying and hoping it would stop we finally called 9-1-1. Now I am not at my brightest before my 1st cup of coffee and never at 4 am. So although I can hear the gasps that accompanied the knowledge that we waited for 1 hour before evacuating, please understand that it took that long to get the brain cells working.
We fled the house… o.k. fled is overrated more like dragged 3 still sleeping kids from warm beds… out to the garage and into our 7-seater van which I drove and parked in the driveway until the emerency team responded.
All was well however, as I though about it, I noticed that none of the wonderful fire fighters or EMS personnel who responded looked like those in the calendar and were all (thankfully) clothed.
So I sat at work wondering why I did not take the day off because I feel like I have been run over by a mac truck and this was the slooooowest day in the history of workdays.
Tonight is also soccer night and so we will be at the field until well after 8pm. I can only pray for rain… which is a good possibility with the summer we have had in Toronto.
Until next time.

Welcome aboard! Nice to see you here!
So glad to hear it was nothing serious this morning, I can honestly say I probably would have dilly-dallied as well. I LOL’d at the calendar comment, so true!

Thanks Cara. It’s good to have an outlet that’s not food related.

Welcome to CPO blog! Glad to hear you and your family are fine. We also have gas in our house and I worry that our detectors won’t work.or that I will not wake up to the sound - as noisy as they are! Did they tell you why the alarms went off?
Looking forward to reading more of your blog!

Basically, they indicated that the alarm was defective and it could also go off if your neighbours car was left running in the driveway… who knew. The scary thing was the kids did not wake up when it went off.
